Referral procedure for Danish patients
Patients from Copenhagen Region are referred by general practitioners. We ask the GPs to refer patients to private neurologists first except for the difficult headache patients. Patients with suspected or verified idiopathic (benign) intracranial hypertension (IIH/BIH) can be referred from either neurologist or ophthalmologist. A special IIH-referral form should be used.

Three categories of patients from other Regions in Denmark may be referred for out- and in-patient treatment:
  • The difficult headache patients (e.g. severe migraine, chronic tension-type headache). The patient must previously have been evaluated and treated by GPs and a private neurologist or outpatient neurology ward.
  • Patients with rare headache disorders such as cluster headache, trigeminal neuralgia and other relatively rare disorders.
  • Patients with suspected or verified idiopathic (benign) intracranial hypertension (IIH/BIH). A special IIH-referral form should be used.
