PhD course of Functional Magnetic Resonance imaging, Copenhagen, 31. aug-4. sept 2009
The course aims at PhD and research students that are using Functional Neuroimaging. Applicants will be selected according to these criteria: position/degree, research project and country of home institution. Application deadline is May 15th, and notification will be given by June 1st 2009.
The main aim of the course is to enable a better understanding of modern functional brain imaging, and the interpretation of its results. Thus, the courses focuses on three aspects of functional brain imaging, 1) the biological underpinnings, i.e. what neuronal phenomena that can be visualized, 2) the relationship between functional neuroimaging (BOLD imaging in particular) and electrical activity (as investigated with EEG and TMS) and 3) techniques for analyzing the data. In addition to in-depth lectures by experienced researchers, the course offers one day of practical exercise with MR-data acquisition and analysis.
Students from the Nordic countries can participate in the course for free and get their costs for travelling covered (cheapest standard fares); those from the Baltic countries can participate in the course for free and have to cover 30% of the costs for travelling themselves. Course participants from other countries can participate in the course for free and have to cover the costs for travelling themselves. Accomodation is at Danhostel Copenhagen (http://www.dgi-byen.com/hostel/).
